Nel dicembre 2014, Peter Lik avrebbe venduto Phantom a un offerente anonimo per $ 6,5 milioni, sarebbe questo il prezzo più alto pagato per una fotografia. Lik è stato accolto con molto scetticismo, sebbene un avvocato che lo rappresenta affermi che l’accordo era reale.
Nel 2015 Kevin Abosch avrebbe venduto una fotografia chiamata Potato # 345 (2010) ad un offerente anonimo per $ 1 milione. Sono in corso indagini, dato che anche su questo ci sono dubbi.
