Franco Pagetti vive in Italia, è fotoreporter dal 1994. La maggior parte del suo lavoro riguarda situazioni di guerra, come i conflitti in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Timor Est, il Kashmir, la Palestina, Sierra Leone e Sudan meridionale.
Pagetti ha coperto il conflitto in Iraq a partire dal gennaio del 2003, tre mesi prima dell’inizio della guerra. In seguito è stato quasi sempre a Baghdad, principalmente su incarico del Time Magazine. Le sue immagini catturano gli orrori della guerra.
La sua carriera include incarichi in India, la Città del Vaticano, Cambogia, Laos, Indonesia, Arabia Saudita e la sua nativa Italia. Oltre alla rivista Time, ha lavorato su incarico per il Newsweek, il New York Times, il New Yorker e Stern. Il suo lavoro è stato pubblicato su Le Figaro, Paris Match, il Times di Londra, e The Independent.
Quando non è in missione, Pagetti vive tra Milano e la Toscana.
